Terms of Use

Welcome to Dorek Travel (“Dorek”, “we”, “us”, “our”). By accessing or using our website, mobile services, or car rental platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. These Terms govern the relationship between Dorek Travel, customers hiring or purchasing vehicles, and vendors (car owners, car dealers, or car rental companies) listing vehicles on our platform.
1. Introduction
Dorek Travel provides a digital marketplace for vehicle rentals, transfers, travel services, and vehicle sales within Zimbabwe. Our platform connects customers with vendors. These Terms apply to:
- Customers: Individuals or businesses hiring or purchasing vehicles via the platform.
- Vendors: Car owners, rental companies, or dealers listing vehicles for rent or sale, including our in‑house vendor profile “Dorek Travel” under which vehicles owned or directly managed by Dorek are listed.
By creating an account or using the platform, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms.
2. Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old to use the platform.
- Vendors must legally own, manage, or be authorised to advertise and rent/sell the vehicles they list.
- Customers hiring vehicles must hold a valid driver’s licence recognised in Zimbabwe for the class of vehicle rented.
- By using the platform, you confirm that you have the legal capacity to enter into binding agreements.
3. Vendor Plans, Platform Fees & Subscriptions
Vendors (including the in‑house vendor account “Dorek Travel”) who list vehicles on the platform agree to the following:
- There is no limit on the number of vehicles a vendor may register, provided all details are accurate and up to date.
- Vendor pricing options. Vendors may choose one of the following pricing models for using the Dorek platform:
- Option 1 – Commission Plan: No monthly subscription. Dorek charges a 5% platform commission on the total value of each completed rental or vehicle sale processed through the platform.
- Option 2 – Subscription Plans: Vendors pay a fixed recurring subscription fee (for example Basic, Standard, Premium or VIP plans) and, while an active subscription is in place, no booking commission is charged on completed rentals or vehicle sales, unless otherwise stated in the vendor plan details.
- Commission calculation and billing. Where the Commission Plan applies, platform commission is calculated on the total booking or sale amount actually paid by the customer (excluding refundable deposits) and may be:
- deducted automatically from funds received into Dorek’s merchant accounts before vendor payout; and/or
- invoiced to the vendor. Invoices must be paid within the period stated on the invoice.
- Subscription billing. Where a Subscription Plan applies, the vendor authorises Dorek to charge the applicable subscription fee on a monthly or annual basis in advance. If a subscription payment fails or is not renewed, Dorek may:
- downgrade the vendor to the Commission Plan; and/or
- limit access to certain features or listings until payment is received.
- Platform commissions, subscription fees and any other agreed charges are non‑refundable except where Dorek expressly agrees otherwise in writing or is required to do so by law.
- Vendors must ensure that listings accurately reflect pricing, availability, location, vehicle condition, included extras, deposits, mileage limits, and photos.
- Vendors are fully responsible for ensuring that vehicles are roadworthy, insured (where applicable), taxed, and compliant with all relevant Zimbabwean laws and regulations.
- Dorek Travel reserves the right, in its discretion, to edit, hide, or remove any listing that is inaccurate, misleading, unsafe, illegal, or otherwise in breach of these Terms or our policies.
- Vendors must not encourage customers to cancel confirmed bookings and transact off‑platform to avoid platform fees or subscription charges. Repeated off‑platform diversion may result in suspension or termination.
4. Customer Terms
Customers using the platform agree to the following:
- Provide accurate and complete personal information when creating an account or making a booking.
- Comply with all Zimbabwean road traffic laws and any additional rules specified by the vendor (e.g. no smoking, no off‑road driving, fuel policy, mileage limits).
- Treat vehicles with care and use them only for lawful and agreed purposes.
- Return rental vehicles at the agreed time, date, and location, in substantially the same condition as received, allowing for normal wear and tear.
- Accept responsibility for any traffic fines, tolls, penalties, loss, or damage to the vehicle occurring during the rental period, except where clearly covered by valid insurance arranged by the vendor and accepted by the customer.
- Where a security deposit is required, accept that part or all of the deposit may be retained by the vendor to cover damage, missing fuel, late return, or unpaid charges in line with the vendor’s damage and deposit policy.
5. Booking, Pricing & Payments
- All bookings, extensions, and cancellations must be processed through the Dorek platform or via official channels indicated by Dorek. Direct off‑platform arrangements for leads generated via Dorek are discouraged and may breach these Terms.
- Prices shown on the platform are set by vendors and may include or exclude additional charges such as deposits, fuel, delivery/collection, cross‑border use, or insurance. Customers should review booking details and vendor terms carefully before confirming.
- Unless otherwise stated, customers pay Dorek’s merchant accounts first (for example via mobile money, bank transfer, card, or approved gateways). Dorek then settles the vendor’s share according to the applicable commission or subscription plan and our payout schedule.
- In limited cases, Dorek may allow “pay on collection” or other offline payment methods. In those cases, the vendor agrees that any platform commission or subscription fees still apply to bookings generated through Dorek.
- Vendor payouts are processed after Dorek confirms that the rental or sale has been successfully completed, subject to deduction of any applicable platform fees, refunds, or adjustments.
- Vendor withdrawals. Vendor balances that are available for payout may be withdrawn to the vendor’s nominated bank account or mobile wallet in line with our standard payout schedule (for example weekly or monthly). Minimum withdrawal amounts, payout methods, and processing times will be shown in the vendor dashboard or payout policy and may be updated from time to time.
- Before processing any withdrawal or payout, Dorek may deduct outstanding platform commissions, subscription fees, chargebacks, refunds, penalties, or other amounts owed to Dorek under these Terms.
- Refunds and cancellations are governed by our separate Cancellation & Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms. Customers and vendors are responsible for reviewing that policy before confirming a booking.
6. Vehicle Use, Inspections & Responsibility
- Customers should inspect the vehicle with the vendor before departure and note any existing damage, fuel level, and accessories on a check‑sheet or digital form.
- Vendors must perform pre‑rental and post‑rental inspections with the customer and document fuel level, mileage, and vehicle condition.
- Any mechanical issues, accidents, theft, or incidents must be reported immediately to the vendor and, where applicable, to the police and/or insurer.
- Where vehicles are listed under the vendor profile “Dorek Travel”, the rental agreement is between the customer and Dorek as vehicle provider. For all other listings, the agreement is between the customer and the relevant third‑party vendor.
- Dorek Travel does not own or operate most vehicles listed (other than those explicitly listed under the Dorek Travel vendor profile) and is not responsible for mechanical failure, accidents, or any loss arising from use of third‑party vehicles. We may, at our discretion, assist parties in communication and resolution.
- Insurance coverage, if offered, will be displayed in the vehicle details or vendor terms. It is the customer’s responsibility to understand what is and is not covered and to purchase additional cover if required.
7. Prohibited Activities
Users (customers and vendors) agree not to:
- Post fraudulent, misleading, inappropriate, or duplicate listings.
- Use vehicles for illegal activities or in restricted areas contrary to Zimbabwean law or vendor instructions.
- Interfere with or tamper with vehicle mileage, tracking systems, immobilisers, or other electronics.
- Bypass or attempt to bypass the platform’s booking or payment system to avoid platform fees, commissions, or subscription charges on bookings or sales generated through Dorek.
- Harass, threaten, or abuse Dorek staff, vendors, or customers, including via messaging and calls.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the platform, other user accounts, or our systems, or introduce malware or harmful code.
8. Platform Availability, Data & Content
- Dorek Travel strives to keep the platform available and accurate but does not guarantee uninterrupted access, real‑time availability, or error‑free operation.
- Much of the content (such as prices, availability, and descriptions) is provided by vendors and may change at any time. Dorek is not responsible for errors or omissions but will act reasonably to correct inaccurate information when notified.
- We collect and process personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy. By using the platform, you consent to such processing.
9. Limitations of Liability
Dorek Travel primarily acts as an intermediary between customers and vendors. Unless we expressly state that a vehicle is owned or managed by Dorek (under the “Dorek Travel” vendor profile):
- We are not a party to the rental or sale agreement between the customer and third‑party vendor and are not liable for performance or non‑performance of either party.
- We are not liable for accidents, injuries, property damage, theft, mechanical breakdowns, delays, loss of income, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from use of a vehicle booked via the platform.
- Our role in any dispute is limited to facilitating communication and, where possible, helping both sides reach a resolution. Final responsibility remains between the customer and vendor.
- To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability in connection with the platform, whether arising in contract, delict, or otherwise, is limited to the total platform fees you have paid to us in the 3 months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
10. Accounts, Suspension & Termination
Dorek Travel may, without prior notice, suspend or terminate user or vendor accounts, remove listings, or restrict platform access if a user:
- Provides false, misleading, or incomplete information.
- Violates these Terms, other platform policies, or applicable law.
- Engages in fraud, abuse, chargebacks, or attempts to avoid platform fees, commissions, or subscription charges.
- Fails to settle invoices, vendor fees, or platform charges when due.
Vendor closure and remaining balances. Vendors may request to close their account by contacting us. We may retain information as described in our Privacy Policy. Any remaining positive balance in a vendor account will be reviewed and, where appropriate, paid out after deducting any outstanding fees, commissions, subscription charges, refunds, chargebacks, or legal holds. Dorek may delay or withhold payouts where we reasonably believe there is fraud, dispute, chargeback risk, regulatory investigation, or other legal obligation to do so.
Upon termination, any pending payouts or bookings may be reviewed and processed or cancelled at our discretion, subject to legal and contractual obligations.
11. Changes to Terms
We may update or revise these Terms of Use from time to time. The latest version will be posted on the platform with an updated “last updated” date. Continued use of the platform after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of Zimbabwe. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or your use of the platform shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Zimbabwe.
